A prestigious and multi-national business with offices in York are current looking to recruit an experienced Credit Controller to look after their German accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute towards the development of and work within the credit policy for the group. This is to include all aspects from credit checking, through to escalation processes that include input from Operations on the manner that they feel most appropriate to pursue debt within the organisation, to ensure prompt payment, but continued high levels of customer care
  • Work with the Credit Manager to age and report on the level of unbilled debt in the Group. Credit Controllers should then work with the Billing Team to reduce unbilled debt to as close as possible to 30 days
  • Issue monthly reports on entire group aged debt, cut by Operations Director, and at a group (Board) level.  This should include both invoiced and unbilled (as per above). The report should include analysis and insight into problem areas and reason codes for delays in payment. Any potentially bad debts should also be highlighted
  • Ensure that debt is collected in a timely manner with the utmost professionalism and with absolute respect for the importance of good client relationships
  • Report monthly on debt balances by team and Operations Director and ensure escalation meets with the agreed credit policy

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role and will have the ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional way. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including listening skills and strong negotiation skills. Strong IT and excel skills are required.

A second language would be ideal, and specifically either French or German.  In the absence of a second language, the individual must feel comfortable managing a team where English may be a second language to some colleagues.

My client, a rapidly expanding and impressive business, are keen to appoint a qualified Financial Accountant, onto an interim contract for an initial period of 4 months. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified ACCA or ACA working closely with the Finance Director and financial accounting team as part of a finance team of 12.

Responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:

  • Supporting and training an assistant financial accountant (part qual)
  • Month end reporting pack and reporting to Group Finance
  • Statutory accounts preparation
  • Dealing with internal and external audit
  • Reviewing month end accruals and prepayments
  • Management of overhead costs
  • Inter-company invoicing, reconciliations and reporting
  • SOX compliance testing and reporting
  • Ensuring Group Capital Expenditure policy is followed
  • Group reporting as required
  • Ensuring Revenue is recognized correctly
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reviewing Balance Sheet Variances
  • Corporation Tax Reporting
  • National Statistics Forms
  • Various ad hoc duties as required

You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACCA or ACA ideally) with excellent attention to detail and advanced Excel skills. You will be able to work well under pressure and have good communication & team working skills.
